The pain

The current website has poor SEO foundations with irrelevant content and missing basic technical elements, limiting visibility and organic traffic.

Who'd pay

Signal that triggered it

"The site is a 4-page static HTML site with no meta descriptions, no robots.txt, no canonical tags, 54 gallery images with no alt text, and filler content about ancient Aztec rubber history on the homepage."

SEO overhaul for auind.co.za — fix foundations and grow organic traffic

Published: Apr 8, 2026

Repository: AnnixInvestments/annix Author: AndyBarrett1982 Status (updated 2026-04-10) Phase 1 foundations are largely satisfied by the new self-hosted CMS built in #187. The new /au-industries/* routes already include meta descriptions, JSON-LD LocalBusiness structured data, Open Graph tags, canonical URLs, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, and unique alt text on all 53 gallery images. None of that earns search impressions until auind.co.za DNS is pointed at the new site (currently blocked on Webspacebar order #1055905028). Immediate priority: Phase 4 (Google Business Profile) — independent of the website, free, highest-impact thing for "near me" searches. Do this now regardless of DNS status. Wait on Phase 2, 3, and 5 until DNS is transferred — building service pages and case studies on webeasy.co.za would be throwaway work since the old site is being decommissioned, and Google won't re-index the new content until DNS resolves. Background AU Industries (auind.co.za) is paying an SEO provider (webeasy.co.za) for search visibility. March 2026 results: 472 impressions, 14 clicks — almost entirely from branded searches (people already searching "au industries"). Product keywords like "rubber products" rank at position 87, "rubber linings" at 20.5, "rubber supplies near me" at 11.4. The site scores roughly 2.8/10 on a basic SEO audit. The site is a 4-page static HTML site with no meta descriptions, no robots.txt, no canonical tags, 54 gallery images with no alt text, and filler content about ancient Aztec rubber history on the homepage. The current provider has not addressed any of these basics. Resolution strategy: Replace the entire webeasy.co.za site with a self-hosted CMS (built in #187). All Phase 1 SEO foundations are baked into the new site. Once DNS transfer completes, the foundations become live automatically. Phase 1 — Fix the foundations (DONE in new site, awaiting DNS transfer) These are standard SEO basics. All implemented in /au-industries/* routes via #187: meta descriptions, robots.txt, canonical tags, viewport meta tag, phone number consistency, unique alt text on images, heading hierarchy, removal of filler content, typo fixes. Phase 2 — Create product/service pages (BLOCKED on DNS transfer) Create CMS pages for key products with targeted keywords.
